Osimhen eyes Champions League glory with Galatasaray, says: ‘Time to make a statement in Europe’

Victor Osimhen is embracing the spotlight as he returns to the UEFA Champions League, this time leading the charge for Galatasaray.

After debuting in the competition with Lille in 2019 and building his reputation across two impressive campaigns at Napoli, the Nigerian striker has found a new home in Türkiye.

Following a successful loan spell in the 2024/25 season, Osimhen made his move to Galatasaray permanent in the summer and has wasted no time making an impact, scoring three goals in his last two outings.

Galatasaray, the reigning Turkish champions, are back in the Champions League after a one year absence and have bounced back strongly from a Matchday 1 setback with two commanding home wins.

Ahead of their Matchday 4 clash with Ajax, Osimhen is determined to lead the team to European prominence.

Speaking about his ambitions, Osimhen shared his vision: ‘I spoke with the president when I arrived here and we want to really make a statement in the Champions League. We want to show that, in Türkiye, we are the team that the whole world will know this year because we actually did something amazing in Europe.

‘We’ve dominated the league for years. We will keep on dominating it, but now it’s time to make a statement in the most prestigious games, Champions League games, because it’s beautiful when you play in the Champions League. So, for us, we want to make a statement, the Nigerian told UEFA website in an interview.
