Adams, Ejuke, Osimhen Fire Eagles Past Gabon into CAF Play-Off Final

Victor Osimhen delivered a match-winning performance in extra-time as Nigeria defeated Gabon 4-1 to reach the CAF play-off final for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles now await the winner of Cameroon vs DR Congo for a shot at one of two coveted World Cup spots in the final FIFA Play-Off Tournament.
Played at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, the match saw Nigeria take the lead through Akor Adams in the 78th minute, only for Gabon to respond with a deflected strike from Mario Lemina in the 89th.
Osimhen had threatened throughout the first half, forcing saves and narrowly missing the target, but it was in extra-time that he truly came alive.
Chidera Ejuke restored Nigeria’s lead in the 98th minute after a slick pass from Wilfred Ndidi, and Osimhen followed up with two goals in quick succession, first a clinical finish in the 102nd minute, then a solo effort in the 110th, to seal the win and end Gabon’s hopes of a maiden World Cup appearance.
