‘I want to play in the Fenerbahçe derby’: Osimhen pushes for shock return in derby despite injury

Galatasaray have been rocked by an injury setback to star striker Victor Osimhen, who returned from international duty with Nigeria carrying a muscle problem.

Medical tests revealed bleeding and a second-degree strain, with doctors initially ruling him out for three to four weeks.

Despite the diagnosis, Osimhen has made a bold request to feature in the Fenerbahçe derby on December 1.

The Nigerian forward, determined to play a decisive role in Galatasaray’s title push, declared: ‘I want to play in the Fenerbahçe derby. I am here to contribute to Galatasaray. I need to be on the field in the most important match of the season, the championship.’

Under normal circumstances, his comeback was scheduled for the Monaco clash on December 9. However, his insistence has prompted the club to launch an intensive treatment program aimed at accelerating his recovery.

While he will certainly miss the upcoming fixtures against Gençlerbirliği and Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League, the focus now is on whether he can defy medical expectations and make himself available for the derby.
