‘My second goal is my favourite,’ says Eberechi Eze after netting 400th Premier League hat-trick in Gunners’ 4-1 demolition of Tottenham

Eberechi Eze described his performance against Tottenham as ‘special’ after netting a historic hat-trick for Arsenal.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he admitted his second goal was his favourite of the three, though he cherished them all because they reflected the hard work he has put into reaching those positions.

‘That’s a good one man. Enjoyable day. Happy to help the team and to win today was special,’ he said.

Eze revealed that he had prayed for a hat-trick before the match and was grateful to God for granting it.

‘That was the prayer today. God gave it to me and that is faith, man. All my family is here and that makes it even more special for me,’ he added.

His treble was not only personal but historic: it marked the 400th hat-trick in Premier League history and made him the 23rd Arsenal player to achieve the feat, more than any other club.

It was also just the fourth hat-trick ever scored in competitive meetings between Arsenal and Tottenham, following Ted Drake in 1934, Terry Dyson in 1961, and Alan Sunderland in 1978.

Eze summed up the moment simply: ‘It is special. Words can’t explain this one today.’
