Super Eagles to Open AFCON Camp December 14 in Morocco

The Super Eagles have confirmed a change in their pre-AFCON plans, with the team now set to open camp on December 14 in Morocco instead of Egypt.

The adjustment, according to football website, ScoreNigeria, became necessary after FIFA’s latest directive that clubs can only release players for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations from December 15.

Nigeria had initially scheduled their camp to open on December 10 in Egypt, but the new ruling forced a revision.

The squad, ScoreNigeria also reported, will now assemble in Morocco, where they will prepare for the tournament. This change also means the warm-up match against Egypt, originally fixed for December 14 in Cairo, has been cancelled.

The Super Eagles will now focus on settling into their new base and fine-tuning preparations ahead of the continental showpiece.
