Fosla Academy and Horvel Angels Set for HerGame Final Showdown
Defending champions Fosla Academy and Horvel Angels are set to clash in the grand finale of the 2025 HerGame Girls Football Championship after both sides secured hard-fought semifinal victories at the Area 3 Sports Complex in Abuja.
Horvel Angels booked their place in the final with a commanding 2–0 win over Generation Next on Thursday. Forward Odide Lilian proved decisive, striking twice in the second half with goals in the 47th and 55th minutes.
Head coach Ogbada Atta praised his team’s discipline and execution, noting that their hunger and tactical adjustments after halftime made the difference. He emphasized that while Fosla Academy are respected opponents, his side will approach the final with full determination to claim the title.
Fosla Academy, meanwhile, stayed on course for back-to-back championships with a narrow 1–0 victory over SIK Paragon. Habila Patricia’s goal just before halftime proved enough to secure the win.
Coach Christopher Igbuku commended his players for their composure under pressure, highlighting their ability to remain true to the team’s structure despite SIK Paragon’s intensity. He stressed that finals are about mentality and assured that his squad is prepared to give everything against Horvel Angels.
The final promises to be a thrilling rematch, as Fosla Academy and Horvel Angels previously met in the opening game of this year’s tournament, a contest that ended in a tight 2–1 win for Fosla.
With both teams eager to assert dominance, Saturday’s showdown is expected to deliver high drama and quality football.
The tournament concludes on December 6, 2025, at the Area 3 Sports Complex. The day begins with the third-place playoff between Generation Next and SIK Paragon at 2:30pm, followed by the championship final at 3:30pm.
The grand finale is anticipated to attract government dignitaries, sports administrators, and key football stakeholders, underscoring the growing national appeal and importance of the competition.
