Arteta: Saliba, Timber, Rice, Trossard Face Late Fitness Tests Before Wolves Match

Mikel Arteta has provided the latest fitness updates on several key Arsenal players ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Wolves.

Speaking at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, the manager revealed that William Saliba remains a doubt after missing the last three matches with a knock.

Arteta said the club would need to assess him again after Friday’s session, adding that while he expects the defender to be fit for the upcoming Everton fixture, his availability for Wolves is still uncertain.

Jurrien Timber was also absent from the midweek trip to Brugge after picking up a knock that left him uncomfortable.

Arteta suggested the Dutchman is close to returning but stressed that his involvement depends on how he responds in training, describing his situation as one that should resolve within days.

Declan Rice, who missed the Champions League win due to illness, will also be monitored. Arteta noted that such issues typically clear up quickly but said the club must wait to see how the midfielder feels before making a decision.

Leandro Trossard’s status remains similarly unclear. The Belgian, who scored after coming off the bench against Aston Villa before later being withdrawn, is also considered a day‑to‑day case.

Arteta admitted the uncertainty surrounding several players is frustrating but insisted it reflects the reality of managing a squad through a demanding schedule.
