AFCON 2025 Winners to Pocket Record $10m, Runners-Up to Earn $4m

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed a historic increase in prize money for the upcoming TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe announced that the tournament winners will now receive USD 10 million, a 43% rise compared to the USD 7 million awarded to champions Côte d’Ivoire in 2023.

The announcement came on Saturday after a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee in Rabat, just one day before the tournament kicks off.

The new figure represents a doubling of the prize money in just four years, with Cameroon 2021 winners earning USD 5 million, Côte d’Ivoire 2023 winners taking USD 7 million, and Morocco 2025 champions set to claim USD 10 million.

In addition to the winners’ prize, CAF confirmed that the runners-up will receive USD 4 million, while each of the two semi-finalists will earn USD 2.5 million.
