‘Super Falcons, D’Tigress Rewards Ready for Collection’, Says NSC Chairman, Dikko

Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, has confirmed that the rewards promised by President Bola Tinubu to Nigeria’s Super Falcons and D’Tigress have been fully processed and are now ready for collection.

According to PUNCH Sports Extra, the packages include houses, national honours, and cash awards worth the naira equivalent of $100,000 for each player and official.

Dikko made the announcement in Fez, Morocco, while presenting the Super Eagles with their own certificates for national honours and title documents to housing allocations in Abuja or Lagos, along with land grants in Abuja, for finishing as runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

While the Eagles’ rewards took nearly two years to be fulfilled, the Falcons and D’Tigress appear set to receive theirs more swiftly.

‘The rewards of houses, national honours and cash awards of naira equivalent of $100,000, awarded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to the Super Falcons and the D’Tigress have been processed with the title documents to the houses and national honours certificates available for collection, while the office of the Minister of Finance and Accountant General of the Federation are concluding the cash payments directly to the players’ accounts,’ Punch Sports Extra quoted the NSC as saying in a statement on Tuesday.

The Super Falcons earned their rewards after winning a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title earlier this year in Morocco, while the D’Tigress and their backroom staff were honoured for clinching a fifth consecutive Women’s AfroBasket crown in August.
