Super Eagles Eye 60th AFCON Win Against Tunisia

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to chase their 60th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) victory when they face the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia today at the Fez Stadium in Morocco.
This Group C clash promises intensity, as both sides secured wins in their opening matches, Nigeria edged Tanzania 2-1, while Tunisia defeated Uganda 3-1 to top the group.
The encounter carries added weight for Nigeria, who are targeting their 149th and 150th goal in AFCON history after reaching 148 in their opener.
Beyond the numbers, the match is fueled by memories of Tunisia’s shock elimination of Nigeria in the round of 16 at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
The Super Eagles had been favorites then, but the North Africans prevailed. Nigeria did, however, defeat Tunisia in the third-place playoff of the 2019 edition in Egypt. Their rivalry remains finely balanced, with five draws, one win apiece, and one defeat each in their last seven meetings.
