Sadiq Umar Seals Valencia Move
Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar is set to join Valencia after the La Liga club reached an agreement with Real Sociedad, according to Radio MARCA Valencia.
The deal, reported to be worth just under €5 million, will see Sadiq sign a three-year contract with Los Che. Negotiations accelerated following Valencia’s defeat to Celta Vigo, which dropped the team into the relegation zone.
Radio MARCA had earlier revealed that the club’s hierarchy were determined to strengthen their attack in January, with Sadiq identified as a priority target.
Valencia coach Carlos Corberán had already pushed for Sadiq’s arrival last summer, but the move fell through. This time, the club increased their initial offer to secure the Nigerian striker, sealing the agreement with Sociedad.
Sadiq, who has been eager to revive his form, is expected to travel immediately to Valencia and make himself available for Corberán ahead of this weekend’s crucial clash against Elche at Mestalla.
The 28-year-old has previously impressed in Spain and is seen as a key addition to help Valencia climb out of danger.
Radio MARCA noted that Corberán views Sadiq’s pace, physical presence, and eye for goal as vital qualities to transform the team’s attack during the second half of the season.
