Iwobi: Super Eagles United by Courage Ahead of Morocco Clash

Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi says the Super Eagles are united by courage and togetherness as they prepare to face hosts Morocco in Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final.

‘There is a strong sense of courage and togetherness. Everyone feels like family in the Nigerian team,’ Iwobi said.

‘We always give everything to win, whether it’s World Cup qualifiers or the AFCON, our mentality is the same. Even in difficult moments, we turn disappointment into extra motivation for our country, our families and ourselves.’

The fixture at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium will mark the sixth meeting between the two nations in AFCON history, and their first encounter in 22 years.

It is only the second time they have met in the semi-finals, with Nigeria winning the previous clash 1–0 in 1980. Their first meeting dates back to 1976, during the group stage.

Nigeria will look to draw inspiration from past victories while Morocco, buoyed by home support, aim to extend their resurgence with a place in Sunday’s final.
