Sevilla hero Akor Adams rues missed chances in Elche draw

Sevilla striker Akor Adams admitted his side “could have won” after being held to a 1–1 draw against Elche at the Martínez Valero on Sunday.

Adams, who returned to club duty following Nigeria’s bronze finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, was the standout performer in the La Liga clash. Speaking in the mixed zone after the game, he reflected on both his comeback and Sevilla’s wastefulness in front of goal.

‘I came back after a long tournament because the team needed me. It’s good that the coach gave me some minutes, and I gave my energy to the team,’ Adams said.

Sevilla registered more than 20 shots on target but failed to convert their dominance into victory. ‘We played a good game; a game that, normally, we should win. We had many chances. We could have won,’ he added.

The Nigerian forward also underlined the importance of scoring for both himself and the team.

‘For me it’s important, and for the team. I was following the results these weeks, and they were not what we wanted. On my return, a draw, and I’m happy to score,’ Adams noted.

The result leaves Sevilla frustrated as they continue their push for a top-four finish, while Elche celebrated a hard-fought point at home.
