Mo Salah back in Liverpool’s Champions League squad after AFCON 2025 duty

Liverpool have been handed a major boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Marseille as Mohamed Salah has returned to the squad following his exploits at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Egyptian captain, who scored four goals and provided an assist at AFCON 2025, his best tally in a single edition of the tournament, is back in Arne Slot’s 20-man travelling party for the trip to the Orange Vélodrome.

Salah’s performances in Morocco also elevated him to Egypt’s second-most prolific scorer in AFCON history, with 11 goals across 25 matches.

Now, attention shifts back to Europe, where Salah continues to reign as Africa’s greatest scorer in Champions League history with 48 goals.

The Reds departed John Lennon Airport on Tuesday afternoon, with Salah joining teammates including Virgil van Dijk, Dominik Szoboszlai, Florian Wirtz, Federico Chiesa, and Cody Gakpo for the crucial tie against Marseille.
