Lagos ACAN Reschedules Athletics Meet to January 23 at National Stadium, Surulere
The Lagos Athletics Coaches Association of Nigeria (ACAN) has announced an update to its upcoming athletics meet, confirming that the event will now take place on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the National Stadium, Lagos.
The date was previously scheduled for January 24 but has been shifted forward by a day.
According to the association’s Public Relations Officer, the competition remains on the official calendar of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) for 2026 and will feature a wide range of events designed to test strength, speed, and technique.
The lineup includes overweight shot put, overweight hammer, 1 mile, 500m, 300m, 150m, 300m hurdles, and broad jump variations such as double leg and single leg.
Registration has been pegged at ₦1,000, with entries directed to Coach Abey via 07033868628. The organizers expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the date change, assuring athletes and stakeholders of a smooth competition.
The Lagos ACAN meet is expected to draw athletes from across the state and beyond, serving as a grassroots platform within the AFN’s broader 2026 athletics calendar.
