‘Next chapter’: Troost-Ekong completes Qatar switch

Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has completed his move to Qatar Stars League side, Al Ahli SC.
Troost-Ekong joined the Doha-based club from Saudi outfit, Al Kholood, on a two-year deal.
The 32-year-old has been unveiled with his favourite No. 5 jersey, as Al Ahli SC look to finish the season strongly.
“Next Chapter! Happy to be here part of the @ahliqat family!” he wrote on social media.
The ex-Nigeria international made 49 appearances for Al Kholood, scoring two goals and was a key figure in the team’s defence.
Troost-Ekong retired from the senior national team during the build up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, despite being included in Eric Chelle’s provisional list.
Nigeria finished with a bronze medal at the tournament.
