Fuludu: NFF Should Let Chelle Go If He Wants More Money
Former Nigeria international Edema Fuludu has urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to let Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle walk away if his contract renewal hinges on a demand for higher wages.
Chelle guided Nigeria to a third-place finish at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, earning praise for the team’s style of play and key milestones achieved during the tournament.
With one year left on his current deal, many stakeholders have called on the NFF to extend his stay, citing the progress made under his leadership.
However, reports suggest Tunisia, Gabon, and Angola are monitoring the 48-year-old tactician and are prepared to offer him more than the $50,000 monthly salary he currently earns with Nigeria.
Speaking on Brila FM, Fuludu acknowledged Chelle’s achievements but insisted the federation should not bow to financial pressure.
‘He has done very well, considering the pressure that came with the job. It would be nice if he stays with us, bring in new players, work harder. If they want to retain him but he wants more money, the market is free. If he wants more money, he can go,’ Fuludu said.
