Super Eagles set for 2027 AFCON qualifiers in September

The Super Eagles will begin their qualifying campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations in September, as the road to the continental showpiece hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda takes shape.
The preliminary round of qualifiers is scheduled for March, with 12 lower-ranked teams battling for six places in the group stage.
Teams ranked 1st to 42nd have already secured automatic passage to the group stage, while those ranked 43rd to 54th must navigate the early knockout phase.
Nigeria, among the higher-ranked nations, will enter directly into the group stage, with the first two matchdays set between September 21 and 30.
The second round of fixtures will follow from October 1 to 6, before the third round is played between November 9 and 17. The tournament itself is slated for June 2027, promising another summer of African football drama.
