Enyimba’s Winless Streak Hits Three After Tornadoes Defeat, Slip to 12th as Poor Form Continues

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) served up another weekend of drama in Week 22, with Nasarawa United piling pressure on leaders Rivers United, Enugu Rangers climbing into the top four, and Enyimba continuing their winless run.
In Umuahia, Nasarawa United fought back from a goal down to defeat Abia Warriors 2-1, courtesy of JoFrank Istifanus’ decisive strike, keeping them firmly in second place and breathing down the neck of Rivers United.
Enugu Rangers also made a statement with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Warri Wolves at the Cathedral, where Godwin Obaje struck twice inside the opening 11 minutes before Chimobi Igwilo added a brace of his own to seal the win.
Elsewhere, Enyimba’s struggles deepened as they fell 2-0 to Niger Tornadoes in Minna, leaving them winless in three matches and stuck in 12th place.
Shooting Stars, however, celebrated their 10th win of the campaign with a narrow 1-0 triumph over Bendel Insurance in Ibadan, thanks to Qamar Adegoke’s 72nd-minute strike that lifted them to sixth on the table.
At the bottom end, Kano Pillars’ relegation worries grew after suffering their 11th defeat of the season in a 2-0 loss to Wikki Tourists in Bauchi.
Plateau United also remain trapped in the drop zone following a goalless draw away to Katsina United, while Ikorodu City endured heartbreak in Maiduguri as Kukhtar’s last-minute goal handed El-Kanemi Warriors a 1-0 win.
Barau FC and Bayelsa United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, with both goals coming within four minutes of each other in the first half.
