Club Brugge’s Onyedika Could Be Galatasaray’s Plan B Transfer

Turkish champions Galatasaray have reportedly lined up Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika as a backup option in their search for midfield reinforcements before the close of the January transfer window.

According to habersarikirmizi.com, coach Okan Buruk is keen on signing Villarreal’s Pape Gueye, but club president Dursun Özbek is reluctant to meet the Spanish side’s €40 million valuation.

Gueye, who scored the winning goal for Senegal against hosts Morocco in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, was named player of the match and has become one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe.

Galatasaray are also monitoring Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte and Tottenham Hotspur’s Yves Bissouma.

A loan move for Ugarte is considered internally as a cost-effective solution, while Bissouma remains another strong candidate depending on financial negotiations.

Should deals for Gueye, Ugarte, or Bissouma fail to materialize, Onyedika is expected to become Galatasaray’s preferred choice.

The Nigerian international, currently contracted to Club Brugge until 2027, has impressed with his defensive solidity and composure in midfield, making him a viable option for the Turkish champions.
