NPFL: Suleiman Blames Player Exodus for Kwara United’s Poor Form

Kwara United head coach Ashifat Suleiman has expressed frustration over his team’s struggles since the start of the second stanza of the 2025/26 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

The Afonja Warriors currently sit 19th on the table, just two points above bottom-placed Kun Khalifat, after losing 10 matches and winning only six so far this campaign.

Their poor run continued on Thursday with a 1-0 defeat away to Kun Khalifat in Owerri, following earlier 1-0 losses to Bedel Insurance and Ikorodu City. The Ilorin-based side has failed to score a single goal since the league resumed.

Speaking after the midweek fixture, Suleiman attributed the team’s struggles to player departures and a dip in form.

‘This is a difficult moment for us. We have not scored a goal since the restart of the league in the second stanza. We’ve lost form and players to foreign trials, but we will surely strengthen the squad,’ he said.

Despite their current position, Kwara United remain hopeful of avoiding relegation. With 16 matches left to play, they are only two points adrift of safety and still have time to turn their season around.
