Guardiola Warns Arteta: Man City Won’t Surrender in Title Race

Pep Guardiola has vowed that Manchester City will continue fighting for the Premier League crown despite surrendering a two-goal lead in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

City looked in control at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after first-half strikes from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo.

But the champions faltered after the break as Dominic Solanke bundled in a controversial goal that survived a VAR review, before producing a stunning scorpion-kick equaliser from Conor Gallagher’s cross.

The result leaves City six points adrift of leaders Arsenal, who thrashed Leeds 4-0 on Saturday to strengthen their grip on top spot.

Guardiola, visibly frustrated by the decision to allow Tottenham’s first goal, was booked for his protests.

‘If a central defender does it to a striker, it’s a penalty,’ he argued. ‘With 14 games to play, the hopes will always be there. Players are coming back, and I saw incredibly good spirit.’

City have now won just once in their last six league outings, raising questions about their ability to mount a late surge.
