Club Brugge Block Wolfsburg’s €20m Move for Onyedika
Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika will remain at Club Brugge until the end of the season after the Belgian side rejected a lucrative offer from Wolfsburg.
According to transfer market expert Sacha Tavolieri, the German Bundesliga club tabled a bid worth close to €20 million, including bonuses, but Brugge turned it down.
Internal discussions were held on Sunday, with all parties agreeing to revisit negotiations in the summer.
Tavolieri explained: ‘Wolfsburg made a serious offer, but Club Brugge decided not to proceed at this stage. The plan is to return to the table in the summer when conditions are more favorable for a transfer.’
Onyedika, 24, has been on the radar of several clubs since last summer, including Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, as well as multiple Premier League outfits.
Despite the interest, Brugge are determined to delay any move until the end of the campaign, ensuring the transfer happens under what they consider ‘optimal conditions.’
The Nigerian international joined Club Brugge in 2022 from FC Midtjylland and has since become a key figure in midfield. He has made 168 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing five assists.
For now, Brugge’s refusal means Onyedika will continue to anchor their midfield as they push for success domestically and in Europe, with his future likely to be decided in the summer window.
