Simba, Raja Casablanca Eye Nwabali After Chippa Exit

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is attracting interest from two of Africa’s biggest clubs following his departure from Chippa United.

The 29-year-old ended his four-year stay in South Africa last week by mutual consent, sparking speculation about his next move. Reports suggest that Tanzania’s Simba SC and Morocco’s Raja Casablanca are leading the race for his signature.

Simba, a regular force in the CAF Champions League, are said to view Nwabali not just as a signing but as a statement addition, impressed by his composure, shot-stopping ability, and leadership during Nigeria’s campaigns at the 2023 and 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Raja Casablanca, another continental heavyweight, are also keen. With their strong pedigree in African competitions, passionate fan base, and a league that often draws European and Middle Eastern scouts, the Moroccan side could provide Nwabali with a platform to elevate his career further.

Chippa United head coach Vusumizi Vilakazi admitted losing the Nigerian international was painful, especially given his performances at AFCON.

‘It is definitely a blow for us. His decision and everything surrounding it did not involve me,’ he said.
