Annabelle Fasuba Eyes New 100m, 200m PBs After Incredible Indoor Triumph

Annabelle Fasuba, daughter of Olusoji Fasuba, former African 100m record holder, 2008 World Indoor 60m champion and Olympic 4x100m bronze medal winner, has set her sights on setting new personal bests in the 100m and 200m events after the 14-year-old won the under-17 girls’ 60m title in a new competition record at the England Athletics U20, U17 and U15 Open Indoor Championships in Sheffield on Saturday.

Fasuba clocked an impressive 7.36 seconds to claim the win, which was a new PB and just 0.02 seconds off the UK under-17 record.

Having broken the 100m under-15 British record last year and equaled the 200m record, Fasuba is hoping she can go even quicker in 2026.

“I really want to get new PBs in the 100m and 200m as they are my favourite events,” she told the Plymouth Sports Gazette.

She holds an 11.51 lifetime best in the 100m and 23.72 in the 200m.

Annabelle also revealed her satisfaction with her feat on Saturday:
“I felt good and I feel like I’ve improved. I can’t thank my coach enough. He’s helped such a lot and I can feel myself getting better,” she was quoted as saying.

She achieved this feat despite having no indoor facilities in the region she is based and has had to train in the wind and rain this winter.

But she has got on with it and she feels her hard work has been rewarded.

“All the training I have done has helped,” she said.
