Olympic Finalist Adegoke Returns to Erfurt, Germany After Four Years, Chasing First Sub-6.70 Performance

Enoch Adegoke, Nigeria’s 2021 100m champion, is set to compete in the 60m event at the Erfurt Indoor Meeting, part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour – Challenger series, on Friday, February 13. The event takes place in Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia, Germany.

Adegoke, 25, is making his return to Erfurt for the first time since 2022, when he clocked a personal best of 6.73 seconds.

That mark was surpassed just last week in Dortmund, and now the Tokyo 2020 Olympic 100m finalist is aiming to dip under 6.70 seconds for the first time in his career.

The race forms part of his preparations to rediscover the blistering form of 2021, when he broke the 10-second barrier in the 100m, claimed his first national title in 10.00 seconds, the second-fastest winning time in Nigerian championships history prior to that race, and became the first Nigerian man in 25 years to reach an Olympic 100m final.

Joining him in the 60m lineup is fellow Nigerian sprinter Fola Olaoye, who has already run 6.60 seconds three times this season to set a lifetime best.

Olaoye will be chasing a sub-6.60 performance, which would mark a major highlight of his indoor campaign.
