Nwabali: No Clause Preventing Move to Another South African Club

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has confirmed that he is free to join another club in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) following his departure from Chippa United.

Nwabali stunned followers of his career last week when he announced that he had parted ways with Chippa United on mutual consent after four years at the club.

Speaking in an interview with Sports Nights Amplified, the Nigeria number one explained that his decision was motivated by a desire to move forward in his career.

When asked if his contract contained any restriction preventing him from signing for another PSL side, Nwabali was emphatic: ‘Talking about clause, there is no clause.’

The 25‑year‑old described leaving Chippa as an emotional moment, likening it to saying goodbye to family.

‘Parting ways from the club after four years is not a really nice feeling because it’s like a home where you’ve been with these guys, with several different coaches, with the same chairman, players and everything. It’s a very understanding request from both parties. It’s really nice working here, but we only need to move forward as a player or as a manager,’ he said.

It has emerged that Nwabali left Chippa without any concrete offer or agreement with a new club. The former Enyimba goalkeeper, who has established himself as Nigeria’s first choice, stressed that he is open to opportunities both ‘locally’ and ‘internationally.’

His next move will be closely watched, with PSL clubs and overseas teams likely to show interest in a player whose performances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations cemented his reputation as one of Africa’s leading goalkeepers.
