Iran Confirm March 27 Date with Nigeria in World Cup Preparations

The Football Federation of Iran has officially confirmed that the national team will face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in an international friendly on March 27, 2026, during the FIFA international window.

Federation spokesperson Amirmahdi Alavai announced the fixture, describing it as a valuable test for Team Melli against one of Africa’s traditional football powers.

The match forms part of Iran’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup under head coach Amir Ghalenoei, who has emphasized the importance of exposing his players to varied playing styles.

In addition to the Nigeria clash, Iran will also meet Costa Rica on March 31.

By selecting opponents from two different continents, the federation aims to strengthen the team’s readiness ahead of the World Cup, where Iran will compete in Group G alongside Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand.
