Galatasaray fans plan emotional tribute to Osimhen’s late mother

Galatasaray fans are organizing a special tribute to honour the late mother of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.

Born in Olusosun, situated next to the biggest rubbish dump in Africa, in the Ojota area of Lagos State, Osimhen’s early life was marked by poverty and hardship.

The grass to grace story of the former Napoli goal poacher is resurfacing again after a recent interview he granted.

The former African footballer of the year sold sachet water and other items in Lagos traffic to help support his family after the death of his mother and his father’s job loss.

Osimhen and his six siblings lived in a one-room apartment in Olusosun.

The tone was set for a tough upbringing when as a toddler, his mother died.

The 2022/2023 Serie A top scorer has never held back to mention the sacrifices made by his late mum, who did menial jobs to sustain the family while she was alive.

According to Osimhen, she took ill and did not recover until her passing.

Since joining Galatasaray on loan two seasons ago and making the move permanent last summer, Osimhen has built a serious bond with the club’s fans who are set to honour the memory of the mother of one of the best players to ever represent the club.

“Cimbom supporters are organizing a special tifo/choreography at RAMS Park to honor Victor Osimhen’s late mother — a heartfelt show of love from the passionate Galatasaray faithful,” Football Focus wrote.

Galatasaray who are top of the Turkish Super Lig, will travel to Konyaspor this weekend in a league game.
