Iwobi Scores and Assists for Third Time in 312 Premier League Appearances
Alex Iwobi delivered a standout performance as Fulham secured a 3-1 victory over Sunderland in their Premier League Matchweek 27 clash at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Nigerian international both scored and assisted in the same game for the first time this season.
Iwobi set the tone early, providing the assist for Fulham’s opener when his corner was expertly headed home by Raul Jiménez.
He later capped the win in the 85th minute, finishing off a swift counterattack with a composed chip over goalkeeper Robin Roefs after being released by Harry Wilson’s surging run and precise through-ball.
The match also carried personal significance for Iwobi, who made his 249th Premier League start in what was his 312th appearance since debuting in October 2015.
It was only the third time in his career that he has both scored and assisted in a single Premier League fixture, having previously achieved the feat against Liverpool in April 2025 and Brentford in September 2025.
This season, Iwobi has started all 21 of his league appearances, contributing three goals and three assists.
His overall Premier League tally now stands at 34 goals and a record-extending 38 assists.
In addition, the former Arsenal midfielder is on the brink of becoming the first Nigerian player in Premier League history to complete 10,000 passes. He currently sits at 9,974 passes with an impressive 82 percent completion rate.
