Okey Bakassi, Harry Song Headline 2nd Niger Delta Games Cultural Expo Night

Ace comedian Okechukwu McAnthony, better known as Okey Bakassi, will headline the Cultural Expo Night at the 2nd Niger Delta Games on Wednesday, February 25, at the Cathelea Convention Centre.

The evening promises a vibrant mix of comedy, music, dance, and fashion, designed to give young athletes a well-deserved break after six days of intense competition.

Musical star Harry Song leads the lineup of performers, joined by rising talent Daniel Edoreh, popularly called Danielo.

The entertainment program is curated to balance relaxation with cultural expression, offering athletes a chance to unwind while celebrating the region’s artistic diversity.

Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, Lead Consultant at Dunamis-Icon Limited, the organizers of the games, emphasized that the event is about more than just fun.

‘The primary reason for bringing these young ones to the games is sports, but we also want them to learn orderliness through choreographed performances at the opening ceremony and now through entertainment that allows them to experience leisure and relaxation,’ he explained.

The Cultural Expo is anchored by the Entertainment Committee, headed by impresario Edi Lawani, who has assembled a rich cast of performers including Seyi Law, Jikume, MC Porcupyne, and G-Flex.

The night will also feature DJ Wikki, MC Casino, Ikpa Udo, DJ Masked Queen, and DJ Sunny Dread, alongside dance showcases, a fashion parade, and a variety contest where athletes themselves can display their talents on the microphone and dance floor.

Lawani noted that the committee carefully selected musicians and DJs from across the Niger Delta states, blending established names with emerging voices to create a memorable experience. ‘It will also feature dance and fashion parade as we will provide the athletes an opportunity to showcase their skills on the microphone and dance floor in a variety contest,’ he said.

The 2nd Niger Delta Games, sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and powered by Dunamis-Icon Limited, began on February 20 and will conclude on February 28, with the Cultural Expo Night serving as one of its most anticipated highlights.
