Deutsch Vows Enyimba Revival: ‘We’ll Bounce Back’

Newly-appointed Enyimba head coach Emmanuel Deutsch has promised to restore the club’s fortunes, insisting the nine-time Nigerian champions will ‘bounce back’ despite their struggles this season.
Deutsch, who replaced Deji Ayeni last week, began his tenure with a spirited 1–1 draw away to Rivers United in Port Harcourt.
The result lifted Enyimba one place to 14th in the NPFL standings, but the Cameroonian coach admits the task ahead remains daunting with just 11 matches left.
‘Enyimba are the best team in Nigeria,’ Deutsch said after the game. ‘They have won back-to-back CAF Champions League titles, nine league crowns and many FA Cups. I wouldn’t say I’m the best coach, but I will do my best. Past coaches have achieved more, but I believe with time before the end of the season, Enyimba will be in good shape.’
He added that mistakes will be corrected and the team’s pedigree will shine through.
‘Enyimba will bounce back. There is no argument about that, because they are humans. We all make mistakes but we’ll correct our mistakes.’
The Cameroonian tactician, who previously managed Abia Warriors, will now look to secure his first win in charge when Enyimba host Kun Khalifat in Aba on Sunday, a fixture that could mark the start of their revival.
