Rosenior Eyes Rare EPL Feat Against Arsenal, Targets Third Straight Away Win in London Derby

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has the chance to equal a rare Premier League feat when his side face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Blues travel across London aiming to strengthen their push for Champions League qualification, though they could begin the match in sixth place if Liverpool defeat West Ham the previous day.

Rosenior has overseen eight wins in his first 12 matches in charge, but both of his defeats have come against Arsenal in the EFL Cup semi-final.

Now, the Englishman has the opportunity to emulate Tim Sherwood, who was the last English manager to win his first three Premier League away games while in charge of Tottenham Hotspur.

Rosenior has already guided Chelsea to 3-1 victories at Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and a win at Arsenal would complete the sequence.

History, however, is against Chelsea. The Blues have lost their last three league visits to the Emirates and have failed to beat Arsenal in eight consecutive Premier League encounters. Across all competitions, they have managed just one win in the last 15 meetings.

Arsenal’s record in London derbies further underlines the challenge. Mikel Arteta’s side have won 18 of their last 25 such fixtures, losing only once. Chelsea, meanwhile, have only triumphed once in nine away games against Arsenal when the Gunners have been top of the table, a victory that dates back to 1948.

Adding to Rosenior’s concerns, Chelsea dropped points again last weekend after conceding late against Burnley. That result means they have now surrendered 19 points from winning positions this season, more than any side except West Ham, who have let slip 20.
