NPFL: Rangers Go Top After Victory Over Nasarawa United, Rivers United, Ikorodu City Crash On The Road

Rangers moved one point clear at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League after defeating Nasarawa United 2-0 at the Cathedral, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, in a Match Week 28 clash.

Godwin Obaje opened the scoring for the Flying Antelopes in the 18th minute before Chidiebere Nwobodo doubled the advantage eight minutes later, giving Rangers a comfortable first-half lead that they held until the final whistle.

The victory lifted Rangers to 47 points from 28 matches, one ahead of Rivers United, who were dethroned from the summit following a 1-0 defeat at Bayelsa United.

Ikorodu City also slipped from second to third after suffering a heavy 4-0 loss to Bendel Insurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Alex Oweilayefa struck twice in the 15th and 27th minutes, Udom Wisdom added another in the 24th, and Insurance sealed the rout with a fourth goal in the 62nd minute to climb to sixth place with 41 points.

Elsewhere, Remo Stars, under new management, secured their ninth win of the season and their first in five games by beating Katsina United 2-0, a result that lifted them to 18th on the table.

Shooting Stars also returned to winning ways, defeating Kano Pillars 2-1 in Ibadan to move up to seventh with 41 points.
