Moforehan Abinusawa Completes Sprint Double at Ivy League Championships
Moforehan Abinusawa delivered a standout performance at the 2026 Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships, held at The Nike Track and Field Center at The Armory in New York.
The 22-year-old University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business student claimed both the 60m and 200m titles, setting new lifetime bests in the process.
Abinusawa ran 7.22 in Saturday’s preliminary round to qualify for the 60m final, where she clocked 7.25 to secure victory. She followed up with a blistering 23.30 in the 200m final, a personal best achieved just a day after qualifying with 23.48.
Her achievements capped a remarkable weekend for Nigerian athletes at NCAA Division I Indoor Conference Championships.
Kanyisola Ajayi equaled the African 60m record of 6.45 to win at the SEC Championships where Samuel Ogazi also set a new African record in the 400m with 44.72.
Ella Enojuvwevwo broke the 51-second barrier for the first time, clocking 50.96 to win the women’s 400m, the fastest time by a Nigerian woman in 28 years while Temitope Adeshina cleared 1.96m to claim her third consecutive Big 12 Championships high jump title.
