Victoria Macaulay Shines Again, but Korea Pull Away from Nigeria with Dominant Win

Victoria Macaulay once more stood out for Nigeria, but her efforts were not enough to stop Korea from claiming a commanding 77-60 victory in Group A of the FWBWCQT France on March 12, 2026, at the Astroballe in Villeurbanne.

After a competitive start, Korea seized control late in the first quarter with a decisive 15-0 run that flipped a 12-16 deficit into a 27-16 lead.

From that point, they never looked back, leading for more than 31 minutes and steadily extending their advantage through balanced scoring and suffocating defense.

Jihyun Park led Korea with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Leeseul Kang added 20 points and Jisu Park dominated inside with a double-double and 4 blocks.

Macaulay matched the game-high with 22 points and 6 rebounds for Nigeria, but her 5 turnovers underscored the team’s struggles against Korea’s relentless pressure.

Nigeria’s best spell came with a 7-0 run in the second quarter, all from Macaulay, narrowing the gap to 34-32.

Yet Korea quickly reasserted control and stretched their lead to as many as 19 points in the final minutes.
