Prize Money Announced for Yenagoa 10km Road Race

The prize money for the 2026 Yenagoa City International 10km Road Race has been unveiled.
Scheduled for Saturday, April 4, the race will feature elite international runners alongside indigenous competitors on a route designed to showcase Yenagoa’s scenic landscapes and vibrant culture.
In the elite category, the winner will receive $5,000, with $3,000 for second place, $2,000 for third, $1,000 for fourth, and $500 for fifth.
For Nigerian athletes competing in the indigenous category, the rewards are even equally substantial, with ₦1,000,000 for the champion, ₦500,000 for second, ₦250,000 for third, ₦150,000 for fourth, and ₦100,000 for fifth.
Organizers say the prize structure reflects the race’s dual mission: to elevate Yenagoa’s status as a global sports destination and to strengthen grassroots athletics in Nigeria.
By offering significant incentives to both international and indigenous runners, the event aims to inspire participation, foster competition, and build a lasting legacy for athletics in Bayelsa State.
