Okoye Determined After Conceding Eighth Goal in Five Games Vs Juventus

Maduka Okoye conceded for the eighth time in five matches against Juventus as Udinese fell 1-0 to the Old Lady at the weekend, but the Nigerian goalkeeper insists he is not letting the setback affect his focus.

Okoye had hoped to secure his second clean sheet in five outings against the former Serie A champions, but a solitary strike denied him that milestone.

Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel after the match, he said: ‘Today there was an opportunity to get at least a point, but Juventus are a very strong team. Now we have to think about the next game. I’m happy with my performance, but in the end what matters is that the team scores points.’

The eight goals conceded against Juventus mark the highest tally he has let in against a single opponent in Serie A, with Inter Milan and AC Milan also having fired eight past him across his career.

This season, Okoye has conceded 26 times and kept six clean sheets in 21 matches. Overall, he has shipped 91 goals and recorded 15 clean sheets in 67 Serie A appearances.

Despite the statistics, Okoye remains upbeat, stressing that his priority is helping Udinese collect points in the crucial weeks ahead.
