Jordan Anthony Confident: World 60m Leader Targets Sub-6.50 at World Indoors

Jordan Anthony of the United States advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s 60m after clocking 6.54 seconds in the preliminary heats, the fourth-fastest time of the round.

Despite not matching his season’s best, the Bowerman Award winner remains the world leader in the event, having set a blistering 6.43 seconds earlier in February.

Anthony, who is bidding for his first global title after dominating the NCAA circuit in 2025, expressed confidence that he can go faster in the upcoming rounds.

‘The race was fine but I know I can run faster in the next round. I know my race plan and I know I can run sub-6.50 again,’ he said.

The 21-year-old described the experience of competing on the world stage as both special and motivating, noting that few athletes his age have reached this level.

‘I am feeling great and I am happy to be here. I am the underdog here so it makes it less stressful. There are not many athletes my age who are here, so in a way it is special to be here this young. I am happy to be learning from this experience,’ Anthony explained in the post-race quote supplied by World Athletics.

He also highlighted the support of fans, saying he relished the opportunity to interact with them.

‘It feels special to sign autographs and take selfies with fans. I love the fans, they come and support you,’ he added.
