Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Team Heads to Angola for Commonwealth Games Qualifiers

The Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Team has departed for Luanda, Angola, where they will compete in the Commonwealth Games Qualifiers scheduled from March 22 to 27, 2026.

Eight athletes will represent Nigeria in the highly anticipated tournament, facing top teams from across the Commonwealth in a bid to secure qualification for the next Games.

Speaking ahead of the team’s departure, President of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, Seyi Johnson, expressed confidence in the squad’s preparation and determination.

‘We are confident in the quality, resilience, and determination of our athletes. They have prepared well, and we are optimistic that they will deliver positive results that will secure Nigeria’s qualification for the Commonwealth Games,’ he said.

Johnson emphasized that the qualifiers are not only a test of sporting excellence but also a platform to showcase the growing strength of wheelchair basketball in Nigeria.
