Trayvon Bromell: ‘You Do Not See Too Many Talents Like Jordan Anthony’
American sprinter Trayvon Bromell praised compatriot Jordan Anthony after the youngster stormed to gold in the men’s 60m at the World Indoor Championships, describing him as a rare talent who reminds him of his own breakthrough a decade ago.
Bromell, who claimed bronze in the event, reflected on his own journey back to the podium after years of injury setbacks.
‘It is a blessing to come back after so many injuries and win another World Indoor medal after 10 years. My start in the final was a bit lousy compared to the semis, but that is part of the game. You have to be focused on executing each phase of the race,’ he said.
Turning his attention to Anthony, Bromell was full of admiration.
‘Looking at Jordan, I see a mirror image of myself from 10 years ago. I also won the world title as a young, unpolished athlete. You do not see too many talents like him. It is athletes like him that keep me motivated and on top of my game. I know he has a great team and I expect him to have a great career ahead of him,’ he added.
Anthony’s victory continues his rapid rise in sprinting.
In 2025, he won the NCAA 60m indoor and 100m outdoor titles, capped by being crowned Bowerman Award winner. He also secured the USA Indoor Championships 60m crown before making his global debut in Poland, where he ran a world-leading 6.41 seconds to clinch gold.
