Amusan Returns to 200m in Four Years With 23.25s Run in Kingston, Jamaica

Reigning world 100m hurdles record holder, Tobiloba Amusan, clocked 23.25 seconds in her first 200m race in four years at the Velocity Fest held at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.

The Nigerian star, who turns 29 next month, last competed in the 200m in 2022 when she set her lifetime best of 22.66 seconds at the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Her return to the distance marks a key step in her preparations for a busy season.

Amusan is intensifying training ahead of the Commonwealth Games, where she hopes to successfully defend the title she won in Birmingham four years ago.

Victory would make her the first Nigerian track and field athlete to win a Commonwealth Games crown three consecutive times. She already made history in 2022 as the first to defend a track and field title for Nigeria at the Games.

In addition, Amusan is targeting a return to the Diamond League podium, having previously dominated the circuit with three consecutive wins between 2021 and 2023.
