Osimhen Plans to Buy Turkish Second Division Side, İstanbulspor as Part of Bold Project
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is preparing to make a headline-grabbing move off the pitch, with reports claiming he is set to purchase Turkish club İstanbulspor.
According to Afrik Foot, the Nigerian forward wants to acquire the Trendyol 1. Lig side as part of a long-term project that goes beyond a simple investment.
The initiative is said to focus on building a bridge between Nigeria and Turkey, with an emphasis on youth development and infrastructure.
İstanbulspor, founded in 1926 by students of Istanbul High School, is one of Turkey’s historic football institutions. The club last played in the Turkish Süper Lig in the 2004/05 season before being relegated to the TFF First League, the second tier of Turkish football.
Osimhen’s plan reportedly begins with the creation of a football academy in Nigeria, designed to identify and train young talent. Those players would then join İstanbulspor, using the club as a showcase to gain experience and exposure in European football.
