End of an Era: Mohamed Salah to Leave Liverpool After Nine Years
Liverpool have confirmed that Mohamed Salah will leave Anfield at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing to a close one of the most successful chapters in the club’s modern history.
The 33‑year‑old forward, who joined from Roma in 2017 for €42 million, has agreed with the club to terminate his contract early despite being tied to Liverpool until 2027.
Over nine seasons, Salah has made 435 appearances, scoring 255 goals and providing 122 assists. He ranks third on Liverpool’s all‑time goalscoring list, behind only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt, and sits just outside the top 20 in appearances.
During his time at Anfield, Salah helped deliver two Premier League titles, a Champions League crown, the FA Cup, the Club World Cup and multiple domestic cups.
He was the Premier League’s top scorer on four occasions, most recently last season with 29 goals, and at his peak reached a market value of €150 million.
In a farewell message to supporters, Salah said: ‘Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. I could never have imagined how much this club, this city and these people would become a part of my life.
‘Liverpool is not just a football club. It is a passion. It is history. We have celebrated victories, won the most important trophies and got through the toughest times of our lives together.’
This season, Salah has been involved in 19 goals across 34 matches, though his market value has dropped to €30 million. His next destination remains uncertain, but his departure marks the end of a glittering era for both player and club.
