Konaté Calls Salah ‘Best of the Best’ in Emotional Farewell Message

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté has paid tribute to Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian forward confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season.

Salah’s announcement sent shockwaves through the fanbase, with supporters flooding social media to thank him for his commitment and extraordinary contribution to the team.

Konaté joined in with a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing: ‘You are the best of the best my brother. Thank you for all the amazing moments we shared on and off the pitch. I wish you all the best in your next steps inshallah KING.’

The 33-year-old winger departs as a Liverpool legend, having scored 255 goals in 435 appearances across all competitions.

In the Premier League alone, he has netted 189 goals and provided 92 assists in 310 games. Salah has won every major trophy available to him during his time at Anfield and still has the chance to add more silverware this season, with Liverpool in contention for both the Champions League and FA Cup.

His impact at Anfield is unmatched.

Salah holds the record for most direct goal involvements at a single stadium in Premier League history, with 152 at Anfield, surpassing Thierry Henry’s tally at Highbury and Wayne Rooney’s at Old Trafford. He has four more home games to extend that record further.

Salah’s 2024/25 campaign was one of the greatest individual seasons in Premier League history. He recorded 29 goals and 18 assists in 38 matches, setting a new record for goal involvements in a single season.

That year he swept the major awards, including the Golden Boot, Playmaker Award, FWA Footballer of the Year, PFA Players’ Player of the Year, and Premier League Player of the Season.

As Liverpool prepare for life without their talisman, Salah’s departure marks the end of an era.

His legacy at Anfield is secure, but replacing his influence on and off the pitch will be one of the club’s biggest challenges in the upcoming transfer window.
