Doha Diamond League Meeting Set to Proceed Amid Safety Review

The Wanda Diamond League has confirmed that the Doha Meeting, scheduled for May 8, will go ahead as planned, while stressing that athlete and spectator safety remains the top priority.

Organisers are closely monitoring the situation in Doha in collaboration with the Qatar Athletics Federation, local authorities, and World Athletics.

Alternative options are being explored, and a final decision will be made no later than one month before the event.

The Diamond League is the world’s leading one-day athletics series, comprising 15 prestigious meetings across 13 countries and four continents.

It offers elite athletes the chance to compete regularly at the highest level in 32 disciplines, with points earned at 14 series meetings leading to qualification for the two-day final in Brussels on September 4-5.

In 2025, the series attracted 400,000 spectators, reached five million social media followers, and generated more than one billion impressions worldwide.

The 2026 season will begin in Doha and conclude in Brusselst.
