Ofili, Chukwuma, Godbless Open Individua Outdoor Season, Onojuvwevwo Set For 400m Outdoor Debut in Louisiana
Nigerian sprint stars Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Tima Godbless will open their individual outdoor campaigns this Saturday at the Battle on the Bayou meet, hosted at Bernie Moore Track Stadium in Louisiana.
The trio, who featured in relay races last month, are now primed to test themselves in the individual 100m.
Ofili and Chukwuma, representing Tiger Olympians, will line up in the Olympic Development 100m race alongside Success Umukoro, who competes unattached. They are drawn in lanes 3, 5, and 8 respectively.
Godbless will contest the collegiate 100m event, starting from lane 5 in the first heat. Alabama’s Precious Nzeakor will feature in lane 4 of the second heat, while Adetutu Aladeloye (Mississippi State) and Victory Godah (Minnesota) are drawn in lanes 4 and 5 of the fifth heat.
Meanwhile, Ella Onojuvwevwo, who stunned the athletics world last month with a 50.28 indoor world lead over 400m and a lifetime best of 22.93 in the 200m, is set to make her outdoor debut in her specialty event, the 400m.
On the men’s side, Adekalu Fakorede (Mississippi State) will run from lane 1 in the first heat of the 100m, while Minnesota’s Charles Godfred is drawn in lane 4 of the second heat.
