Osimhen’s Arrival Fuels Galatasaray’s Global Popularity

Galatasaray vice president Abdullah Kavukcu has admitted that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has played a major role in boosting the club’s international appeal, alongside Leroy Sane and Mauro Icardi.

Speaking to German newspaper Bild, Kavukcu revealed that Osimhen is now among Galatasaray’s highest jersey sellers, a reflection of his growing influence both on and off the pitch.

He noted that the Super Eagles star has significantly expanded the club’s reach in Nigeria, with fans closely following Galatasaray’s updates across social media platforms.

Osimhen, widely regarded as Nigeria’s most high-profile footballer, joined Galatasaray permanently last summer after a successful loan spell in which he helped the Lions secure a domestic double.

His transfer became the most expensive signing in Turkish Super Lig history, and his presence has since translated into commercial growth for the club.

Kavukcu explained that Osimhen’s popularity, combined with the star power of Sane and Icardi, has elevated Galatasaray’s brand recognition worldwide.

‘Leroy is among Galatasaray’s top three jersey sellers, along with Osimhen and Icardi,’ he said, underscoring the trio’s importance to the club’s merchandising success.

The vice president also disclosed that Galatasaray is preparing to take its merchandising arm public and is exploring the launch of a café franchise chain as part of a broader branding strategy.

‘Our vision is to be one of the top 10 clubs in the world. All of this is largely thanks to players like Leroy, Mauro Icardi, and Victor Osimhen, who have significantly boosted our popularity,’ Kavukcu added.
