Nwachukwu Joins Sub-23 Club, Ufodiama Climbs All-Time List

Nigeria’s junior international, Chioma Nwachukwu, delivered a standout performance at the Florida Relays on Saturday, clocking 22.96 seconds in the women’s 200m at the Percy Beard Track in Gainesville, Florida.

Nwachukwu cut off a huge 0.47 seconds off her PB to become the 28th Nigerian woman to dip under 23 seconds in the event, moving to 26th on the country’s all-time list.

Her effort edged compatriot Adijatu Rejoice Sule, who owns a PB of 22.97, into 27th place.

On the same day, Kelly Ufodiama scorched to a personal best of 22.53 seconds, winning her heat in commanding fashion.

The time elevated her to joint eighth on Nigeria’s all-time list, alongside Mercy Nku.

At the top of that list remains Favour Ofili, Nigeria’s record holder in the event and the only woman from the country to have broken 22 seconds, with her blazing 21.96.
