Adaobi Tabugbo Posts Season’s Best at Miramar Invitational

Nigeria’s Adaobi Tabugbo produced a season’s best performance at the Miramar Invitational on Saturday, finishing fourth in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, Florida.

Tabugbo clocked 13.03 seconds in the final, improving on her previous best of 13.07 set in March at the UCF Black & Gold Invite in Orlando.

She had earlier qualified for the final with a time of 13.12 seconds. The race was dominated by Jamaica’s Kerrica Hill, who won in 12.81 seconds, followed closely by Alexandra Webster of the United States (12.86) and Jamaica’s Demisha Roswell (12.94), the only athletes to dip under 13 seconds at the meet.

Meanwhile, reigning Nigerian shot put champion Divine Oladipo endured a challenging outing, finishing fifth with a best throw of 15.25m.

The 27-year-old 2022 Commonwealth Games finalist fouled her first two attempts, managed 13.97m in the third round, fouled again in the fourth, before recording her best effort in the fifth round.

Her final attempt was also a foul. With American Maggie Ewen failing to start, Oladipo’s mark secured her the last spot in the competition.
